In my current body of work I am trying to gain a deeper understanding of fear. When I was younger, I thought that fear was something you grew out of. I haven’t yet, and I get the feeling that neither has anyone else. There's fear that lives in that old, primeval, caveman part of my brain; fears that I never thought I'd have, or never thought I should have; those memories of old unbidden fears that I thought would never go away. As I explore my own fears and grow more comfortable with them, I find myself wondering why others work so hard to pretend their own fears don’t exist. This body is an exploration of fears both spoken and unspoken that I see, sense and imagine other people experiencing.

I’m learning that the fears I have aren’t going away, and maybe that’s okay.
